Spend a riveting afternoon (or six!) experiencing some of Hollywood’s quintessential moving pictures during SCF Lifelong Learning’s theatre-style presentations of classic American films. This carefully curated, multi-genre selection offers something for everyone. Features include:

Feb. 28: Sunset Boulevard, 1950. Hollywood’s dark side, t

he price of fame and the illusion of stardom are a few measurements made in this film.

March 6: The Day the Earth Stood Still, 1951. This alien-landing movie still speaks to our suspicions and worries about all that is different from our ways of life.

March 13: Trial, 1955. An underappreciated drama follows a boy who is both victimized by prejudiced accusers and a pawn of his lawyer-defender.

March 20: Rebel Without a Cause, 1955. It is a timeless story of teenage life, parental style and generational differences.

March 27: Jailhouse Rock, 1957. An iconic musical drama featuring Elvis Presley, notable for its authentic appreciation of the rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack and an engaging story of redemption.

April 3: Pillow Talk, 1959. A classic romantic comedy, this film stands squarely between the button-down world of the Fifties and the revolution that would mark the next decade.
