Great American Picnic Event Details

Pie Baking Contest: 4pm – Pull out your favorite pie recipe and whip up a homemade pie for your chance to win some incredible prizes – and, of course, bragging rights! Inside Solis Hall, we’ll have a panel of judges from the Wellen Park Rotary judging the contest. Please  RSVP by acquiring a complimentary ticket here. Location: Solis Hall, 19745 Wellen Park Blvd.

Watermelon Eating Contest: 4pm – For this watermelon eating contest, sponsored by Venice Print Center, we’ll have 2 categories; adults and youth. We are limiting the contest to 20 people. Prizes go to whomever eats it fastest.  Registration is day of at 4pm. First 20 people in each category will be able to enter contest. Location: lawn area in front of the stage of Solis Hall, 19745 Wellen Park Blvd.

First place winner receives $50 gift card / Runner up winner receives $25 gift card

Kids Foam Party: 4pm-6pm- Foamboree will be in Downtown Wellen with a kids foam party! Bring your suit and have some fun! Click here to see the fun in action! Location: lawn area next to Foxtail Coffee.

Kids Carnival Games: 4pm-8pm – There will be a carnival booth with the following games; Flip A Chick, Fish Pond, Tip A Jug, Pig Race, Duck Bag Toss, Maze Runner Games and a 3 in 1 Game Trailer. Prizes while supplies last. Location: Lawn area next to Villani & Co. 19790 Wellen Park Blvd.

Photo Booth: 4pm-8pm – Take some photos with our backdrop and crazy props that you can share on your social channels so your followers can see all the fun you’re having at our Great American Picnic. Location: To the right of the stage of Solis Hall, 19745 Wellen Park Blvd.

Face Painting: 4pm-8pm – Face Painters sponsored by Seymour Orthodontics & Neal Communities. We will have 2 face painters available.  Please be aware there may be long lines and the lines may close before 8pm so the artists can finish promptly at 8pm. Thank you for understanding. Location: under the Wellen Park tent across from Oak & Stone, 19795 Wellen Park Blvd.

Live Music on The Stage: 5pm-9pm – Enjoy the sounds of Whiskey County, a country band from Tampa. Sponsored by Lennar Homes. We’ll have tables with shade umbrellas and chairs set up on the Great Lawn or you can bring your own lawn chair and enjoy the live music. Location: Solis Hall Stage, 19745 Wellen Park Blvd.

The Venice Theatre Story Time: 6:30pm-7pm – Join your friends under the Heritage Tree in Downtown Wellen with the beautiful backdrop of the Grand Lake. The Venice Theatre is proud to offer this story time for all! Location: Under the Heritage Tree

Food & Drink – Stop by any of the mobile bars outside for drinks and Sip & Stroll your way through the activities. Enjoy a variety of restaurants and food kiosks for a bite to eat! Many will have a ‘Great American Picnic To Go Special’. Purchase a picnic basket for the full authentic picnic experience, from the Info Hub at the Horse Trailer. Picnic Basket Sweepstakes: 3:30pm-7:30pm – Sweepstakes for a picnic basket cooler which includes plasticware and is worth $75. See official sweepstakes rules here. These picnic baskets will also be available for purchase. Location: Blue Horse Trailer parked on Wellen Park Blvd across from Naples Soap Company, 19790 Wellen Park Blvd.
