Welcoming a Hub of Freshness and Fun

Picture mature shady oak trees lining a street filled with bustling shops and restaurants. Imagine a massive grand lake dotted with kayaks and paddle boards as people enjoy the outdoors. Envision an outdoor concert adjacent an expansive lawn dedicated to community gatherings. All this and more will soon be a reality as vertical construction begins on Downtown Wellen, the future hub of heartfelt connections in Wellen Park. 

Expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, Downtown Wellen will become the go-to gathering place to spend time as a family or meet up with friends, with endless ways to enjoy a high-energy afternoon or a relaxing evening.

Wellen Park recently broke ground on Downtown Wellen and gave a preview of the experience residents and visitors alike can anticipate.

One of our favorite activities was hosted by Posies Flower Truck, where guests got to craft their own bouquets using flowers from the truck, creating a decorative souvenir to commemorate the start of this new neighborhood attraction. Signage prompted participants to “imagine more inspired days and bright bouquets,” setting the tone for the vibrant vibes of the future downtown.

Bellinis, Bloody Marys, and Brunch, Oh My! 

Imagine more craft cocktails and waterfront dining. 

Guests started the celebration enjoying a spread of local breakfast and brunch items, along with mimosas, bellinis and bloody marys from the Wandering Whale Mobile Bar.  

We Got A Little Crafty

Our various development and marketing partners channeled their inner artist as they designed and painted ceremonial shovels that represent their involvement with Downtown Wellen. 

The shovels were used to officially break ground on the project and will be displayed in the lobby of the  upcoming mixed-use building  as a permanent art installation. 

Later this month, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for your favorite shovel designs while visiting the Wellen Park Welcome Center during our Shovel Design Contest. Stay tuned to our social channels for details. 

 

A Colorful Paved Walkway 

Children will be inspired to play all day at the future Downtown Wellen playground when they walk along a path paved full of colors that bring out the vibrant Wellen Park community. Guests were encouraged to paint pavers during the event to contribute to the future path as they imagined more inspired days to come.

Countdown to Downtown

The celebration continues! Starting later this month, we’ll be hosting a series of activities and events to continue our countdown to downtown. Events include mixology and cooking classes, fitness meetups, wine pairing dinners, book clubs , and more, and are going to be held at the Wellen Park Welcome Center between now and the opening of Downtown Wellen. Follow our Facebook and Instagram channels for the latest on these fun events. 

We had a blast starting this unforgettable journey to create the ultimate community hub, and we can’t wait for the lifelong memories to be made at the new Downtown Wellen coming Q4 2022.
