6 Places to Visit Within A 15-Minute Drive of Wellen Park

From famous baseball stadiums to outdoor parks to hidden gems, Wellen Park is surrounded by plenty of things to do in Venice, Florida and neighboring areas to keep the whole family entertained.

We’re all about living your best life every day, and that extends beyond our community’s walls.

While there are plenty of beaches to visit and neighboring cities to explore within our reach, we also understand the ease of hopping in the car and taking a quick drive to something spectacular.

We’ve rounded up six places less than a fifteen-minute drive from the Wellen Park community that we know you’ll love.

CoolToday Park

While technically located in our community, CoolTodayPark is a can’t-miss spot we needed to add to our list.

Home to countless events, this outdoor stadium hosts the Atlanta Braves Spring Training, Braves Farmers Market, and concerts throughout the year.

Also located in the stadium, you can find Superior Pools Tomahawk Tiki Bar & Grill — stop in for a drink before, during, or after various events at CoolToday Park or for happy hour any day of the week from 11-4 p.m.

Senator Bob Johnson’s Landing

Complete with a kayak and canoe launch, grills, restrooms, rinse stations, and wildlife viewing areas, Senator Bob Johnson’s Landing is the perfect way to spend a day out by the water near Wellen Park.

The park is located on the Myakka River and provides access to plenty of water-loving wildlife — and the perfect place to go birding, too!

There are also paved and unpaved trails throughout the park that are great for running, walking, and biking.

Off the Wagon Brewery & Kitchen

Scott and Corey Harper of 3 Bridges Brewery partnered with Off the Wagon Brewery & Kitchen as a place they can call home, as well as showcase their award-winning brews.

Venice’s first microbrewery offers in-house beer made by 3 Bridges Brewing and build-your-own-craft burgers — name a better duo… we’ll wait.

Fun fact! The Executive Chef, Mike Leopold brought his amazing street and ethnic tacos to Irma’s Tacos in Wellen Park’s Marketplace, so you can try his delicious cooking in or out of our neighborhood.

Hazeltine Nurseries

Hazeltine Nurseries is much more than a landscaping company that helps you build your dream backyard oasis. They also have a garden center that’s just a quick drive from Wellen Park!

From flowers to palms, their garden center is the perfect place to find just the right plant for your Wellen Park backyard lanai or a colorful croton to care for out front.

Snook Haven

Tucked away and located right on the Myakka River, you can find Snook Haven, a small tin-roofed restaurant with casual backyard barbeque and delicious drinks.

Their barbeque is prepared on-site and smoked in their state-of-the-art smoker daily. They say your meal isn’t complete without their signature Gator Bites, so definitely come hungry!

They have everything you could want for a day on the river, including canoe rentals, kayak rentals, and backyard beauty.

Logan River Tours

Located at Snook Haven, catch a relaxing, informative cruise down the Myakka River. Logan River Tours is a family-owned and operated business with over 35 years of experience in the tour and charter business.

Keep an eye out for the wildlife on and around the river including eagles, turtles, gators, and manatees!
