Bayside Pet Resort: Luxury Pet Lodging Coming to Wellen Park
Bayside Pet Resort, a luxury retreat for man’s best friend, will be opening near Wellen Park and will offer canine lodging, feline lodging, doggie daycare, dog and cat grooming, and dog training!
This isn’t their first location — the family-owned business runs three other pet resorts in the area and has a long history of providing care. We’re happy to have Bayside in the area and excited to share more about what’s to come!

Luxury For Furry Friends
Bayside Pet Resort is described as a five-star resort equipped with amenities galore, including a pool, shared courtyards, outdoor runs, and an agility area. Lodging takes a leap away from the standard — imagine dog suites with access to the outdoors, as well as kitty condos and penthouses with varying features.
Bayside Pet Resort has recently won awards for Best Pet Boarding and Best Pet Training via the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Readers Choice Awards! In the words of Jeff Charlotte, president of Venice-based J.E. Charlotte Construction Corporation, Bayside truly is “a Ritz Carlton for pets.” Charlotte will be working on the construction of this Wellen Park location.
A History Of Care
Owners Bob and Lynn Huff have been operating Bayside Pet Resort locally for 10 years, after an extensive career in running nursing homes. With so much experience in operating care homes, the couple decided that they wanted to expand their passion and branch out into the world of pet care, which is how Bayside Pet Resort came to be.
Pet care at Bayside will ensure that spaces are always air-conditioned, humidity-free, and equipped with special ventilation systems that regularly cycle in fresh air. Pets will also enjoy fresh linens and soothing music, and their owners will be able to check on them via video monitors.

Bayside By The Numbers
Let’s take a look at the numbers:
- When complete, the pet resort will total in 16,000 square feet, situated on 2.5 acres of land!
- There will be 100 suites for dogs, and 18 condos and penthouses for cats.
- While many guests are dogs, around 25% are cats. Turtles, fish, bearded dragons, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes and even pot-bellied pigs are welcome.
- After construction begins in September 2022, the project should take nine months to complete.
