Trails Day

Join us for a fun day on the Oakheart Trail!

Celebrate National Trails Day by exploring beautiful trails, meeting fellow nature lovers, and enjoying the great outdoors. There will be two guided walks and one guided pedaled bike ride. Don’t miss out on a morning full of fresh air and good vibes and to win a beach cruiser bike*!

*Must be signed up on eventbrite and present at the event to qualify*

Guided walk lead by Stocking Savvy

Stroll through Oakheart Trail with Stocking Savvy and learn all about what types of plants are native to our area.

Guided Walk lead by The City of North Port Parks and Recreation Department

Come along for a walk on the Oakheart Trail with the City of North Port parks department. On this walk you will learn about local wildlife.

Guided BIke Ride lead by the Wellen Park Outfitter

A limited number of bikes will be available for the bike ride at the Wellen Park outfitter. Please call for more information and to reserve a bike. 941-408-5846

Beach Cruiser Bike Raffle Giveaway

By registering and attending the event you are automatically entered into the raffle for a chance to win the bike!

Where do I park?

Please park at D.R Horton Ashcombe townhomes off of Manasota beach road.

What times do the walks and bike ride start?

Walk 1: 9am-10:15am

Walk 2: 10:15am-11:30am

Bike Ride: 11:30am-12pm

How long is the route?

The route is approximately 2.5 miles in total.

Are restrooms available?

Yes, restrooms will be available at the halfway point of the route.

Can I participate in all three events?

Yes! You can participate in both guided walks and the bike ride if you’d like. You are also welcome to walk the trail at your own pace without a guide.

What are the trail rules?

Trail Rules & Etiquette:

  • Hours of Trail is open from dawn to dusk. Overnight camping is prohibited-
  • Use trails at your own Please be safe.
  • No motorized or electric vehicle Any use of motorized or electrically powered vehicle or modes of transportation is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to UTVs, ATVs, IE-Motorbikes, Golf Carts, Scooters, Low Speed vehicles, etc.,
  • Stay on designated Use marked paths and boardwalks; shortcutting the trail destroys vegetation, leads to erosion, and impacts wildlife and their habitats. Stay off private property.
  • Be mindful of trail Avoid using trails when they are excessively muddy, as it will damage the trail’s condition and can be harmful to ecosystems that surround the trail.
  • Leave no trace: Pack out all trash (including pet waste) and leave natural items (rocks, plants) where you find them
  • Respect wildlife: They need their space, and you need yours, Keep your distance from the wildlife you encounter. Observe from a distance. Never feed or approach wildlife.
  • Keep pets leashed: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash and under control of owner; clean up after
  • Watch for hazards: Be aware of natural dangers like snakes, ticks, and poison
  • No smoking/alcohol/weapons. They are prohibited due to fire risk and safety
  • No fires/grills: No BBQs or fires
  • Traffic & Obey signs, watch road crossings, and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Follow park regulations: Always obey posted
  • Parking: Use the public parking areas only.
  • Share the trail and be courteous. Yield to others on the Bicyclists should stay to the right, yield to slower users, and slow down when passing. Runners/walkers should look ahead and behind before passing and move off the trail when stopped. Keep voices down, use headphones for music.
  • Soliciting: Soliciting or canvassing is prohibited, unless authorized by a
