Lago Tacos now open at The Yard in Downtown Wellen

Street tacos and all the trimmings are now available at Downtown Wellen’s brand-new Lago Tacos in The Yard. Located in one of three repurposed shipping containers, the eatery is the latest offering from Jamie Albano, the owner of downtown’s Kind Vibes Outfitters and Lakeside Bites. The eatery also offers empanadas, zesty Mexican street corn, chips and dips, chicken tortilla soup, desserts and beverages, including freshly made limeade and Jarritos in a variety of fruity flavors.

            “Street tacos and Mexican inspired small bites are a perfect fit for the relaxed, casual vibe of The Yard,” said Christine Masney, vice president of marketing at Wellen Park. “We’re pleased to offer more value-conscious options for families and those looking for a quick and tasty bite while visiting Downtown Wellen.”

            “Our menu is crafted with quality, tradition and a dash of creativity to bring diners the ultimate street food experience,” said Albano. “Lago Tacos is where the flavors of Mexico meet the breezy vibes of the Grand Lake.”

            Lago Tacos offers a variety of taco and empanada flavors to enjoy in The Yard or while wandering the pedestrian-friendly downtown. Available with white, yellow corn or flour tortillas, street tacos include brisket, chicken and pork served with cilantro, white onion, salsa rojo and salsa verde. Empanadas span chicken, beef, sausage, spinach and cheese, and ham and cheese in delicate golden pastry. Traditional chips are served with a trio of fresh guacamole, tangy salsa and creamy queso blanco. For dessert, there’s cinnamon-sprinkled churros and guava cheesecake.

            Lago Tacos is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. It complements The Yard’s other restaurants: Lakeside Bites, serving paninis, fried shrimp and crispy mac ‘n’ cheese, and Atlanta Braves-affiliated Pop Dawgs, known for its gourmet hotdogs, pretzels and butter-soaked popcorn.

            Albano also operates Kind Vibes Outfitters, offering paddleboard, kayak, bicycle and fishing gear rentals for enjoying the Grand Lake and Wellen Park’s 30 miles of trails.
