Millennium Physician Group to add medical office in Wellen Park

VENICE, Fla. (June 10, 2022) – Millennium Physician Group is coming to Wellen Park, adding another layer of health and wellness to the growing master-planned community. The Fort Myers-based group is building a 12,000-square-foot medical office on U.S. 41, which will offer primary and urgent care, radiology and lab services, and wellness advocacy and programs.

The medical building will have offices for three primary care physicians and offer a full-service radiology department, lab and walk-in medical clinic for urgent-care needs with extended hours. Construction is expected to start soon with an anticipated opening in late 2023.

  Millennium Physician Group’s new building will provide convenient access to healthcare for Wellen Park’s existing 9,500 residents and the more than 50,000 residents planned at build-out.

Fernandez said the Wellen Park office will also offer health and wellness programs services for patients 65 and older.

“Half of our patients are over 65 and we will be focusing on wellness and advocacy for them,” said Fernandez. “We currently offer diabetes education, smoking cessation, weight-loss and Medicare education programs. We also specialize in Medicare quality programs.”

Patients will have the option to establish with the office’s primary care providers. Millennium is actively recruiting doctors and medical staff for the new building.

Wellen Park’s wellbeing focus is designed to give residents greater opportunities to take care of themselves and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. With 21 miles of hiking, bicycling and running trails are woven into the community and will eventually span 40 total miles.

Downtown Wellen, the vibrant gathering hub for Wellen Park and the region, will enhance heartfelt connections to the community and nature. Under construction and expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, the pedestrian-friendly downtown offers retail shops, waterfront dining, professional and beauty services, public community spaces, lakefront parks and outdoor recreational opportunities along the 80-acre Grand Lake and 2.8-mile lakefront trail. Kayak, paddleboard and bicycle rentals will be offered by an on-site outfitter. Residents and visitors of downtown Wellen will be able to reach their physical and mental wellbeing goals by participating in groups fitness classes, educational seminars, and athletic challenges such as the Wellen Park Race Series consisting of 5K, 10K, 15K, half marathons and other athletic competitions.

Downtown Wellen also offers a large events lawn, a hammock grove and alfresco lounge area under a nearly 100-year-old oak tree, a unique nature-inspired playground and Solis Hall for concerts, community and private events.
