Wellen Park welcomes Braves legend Bruce Benedict for special fan event at Solis Hall

Baseball fans of all ages are invited to step up to the plate for a rare opportunity to meet one of the Atlanta Braves’ most iconic players, Bruce Benedict.

The former catcher and beloved member of the Braves’ 1980s era, will be participating in a special meet-and-greet event during Wellen Park’s Fresh Harvest Farmers Market on Sunday, April 27, from 9 to 11 a.m., outside Solis Hall, 19745 Wellen Park Blvd. Guests will be able to connect with Benedict and receive one complimentary autograph per person on a photo or item of their choice.

The event is free and open to the public. Benedict played his entire 12-year Major League Baseball career with the Atlanta Braves, serving as the team’s primary catcher throughout much of the 1980s. Known for his sharp defensive skills, strong game-calling and leadership behind the plate, Benedict earned two All-Star selections (1981, 1983) and caught some of the most iconic pitches of the era. His steady presence and commitment to the game made him a fan favorite and a cornerstone of the Braves’ lineup for over a decade. “We’re excited to give our community and visitors a chance to meet one of the game’s greats right here at Wellen Park,” said Christine Masney, vice president of marketing for Wellen Park. “This event is a perfect blend of hometown charm, baseball nostalgia and community connection.”

The event coincides with the weekly Fresh Harvest Farmers Market, a vibrant Sunday tradition featuring local vendors, fresh produce, live music and family-friendly fun in the heart Downtown Wellen.
