Wellen Park’s Jan. 4 Luminescence Festival celebrates an evening of illumination and music

VENICE, Fla. (Dec. 10, 2024) – Wellen Park rings in 2025 all aglow during the second annual Luminescence Festival Saturday, Jan. 4 in Downtown Wellen. The illuminating event, from 6 to 10 p.m., will include live music, hundreds of luminaries lighting the way along the Grand Lake and vibrant projection art displays upon sunset.

“We invite the community to celebrate the new year with us and light a luminary in remembrance of loved ones or to share wishes for the coming year,” said Christine Masney, vice president of marketing for Wellen Park. “Participants will have the opportunity to personalize their luminaries before they’re placed around the lake.”
The Eighth Note Collective, a dynamic group of Orlando-based musicians with a fresh take on classic jazz music, will perform on the Solis Hall stage throughout the festival. Participants are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for seating on the Great Lawn.

The Luminescence Festival celebrates the beauty of light in both traditional and contemporary forms – the classic luminary around the Grand Lake and modern projection art, the latter immersing visitors in a constantly changing visual environment of moving color, shapes and interaction. Semi-permanent projectors are located throughout downtown’s outdoor areas. The evening begins with a breathtaking lakefront sunset.

Visitors will also enjoy dining at Downtown Wellen restaurants and casual food and beverages  served in The Yard, a food park with three eateries.

Advanced reservations are required for luminaries. Festival-goers who plan to decorate one can reserve their luminary by visiting wellenpark.com/events/luminescence-festival-2.
